My Fitness Journey...thus far

One of my goals this year is to get fit and be more healthy.
Any of you have a similar goal?

Growing up I ate whatever whenever and created really bad eating habits. I never had to worry about gaining weight, because I was a dancer. I danced 5 days a week for multiple hours a day.

At 20 years old (8 years ago...wow how time flies), I quit dancing due to some medical issues, but continued with my poor eating habits.  Let's just say...it caught up to me.

At 22 years old I made a HUGE change in my eating habits and lost a bunch of weight (almost 40 lbs) thanks to Weight Watchers. The greatest part about WW was that I didn't feel like I was on a diet. I monitored my portions and made healthy eating choices.

Then I got pregnant with my daughter...and gained 60 lbs. Granted she was an almost 10 pound baby and a lot of it was water weight from being on my feet all day teaching...but 60 lbs is 60 lbs regardless. Luckily I lost half of the weight in the first 2 weeks of having her.

Now my daughter is almost 4 years old and I am STILL working on getting back into shape and maintaining those healthy eating habits. My goal is to lose 10 lbs, to maintain that weight, and to tone up my body.

So I decided to start this...and I am actually sticking to it!
And I drink one of these everyday...

Munch on these for a snack...
And we are doing lots of bike rides before it's too hot to handle...
Yes...my daughter always invites "Bruggy" (Bruzer) to come on our bike rides.

I'm watching what I eat, monitoring my portions, sticking to the 30 Day Shred (thanks to a great support group of girls who are also shredding), and I even bought a bathing suit for a bit more motivation.

I am proud of myself.
I can do this.
I can do anything I set my mind to.

Like it?

I am on a weight loss journey right now as well, and I am using Weight Watchers to get there! It sounds like you are doing great with your new commitments! I am a little afraid of the green smoothies (even though everyone says that they are awesome!) Keep it Kara!

YOU CAN DO THIS! :) I need to do this too... Getting the motivation to work out is the hardest part for me. I was like you, ate whatever I want then played basketball, volleyball or track... Now I don't. And it's caught up with me. Thanks for the motivation girlie!!!

Good for you for sticking with it and having a plan!!! Sadly I never was a girl that could eat whatever I wanted, but I was able to exercise and it would come off. Now the older I get that isn't working so well for me. So, unfortunately it is time to shake the sugar tooth...this is so hard because I LOVE to bake:-) So I am going to work on still baking but not eating it. I need to have better self control now!!! Good luck with losing your pounds...and definitely keep us posted!!!

I also started this year on a fitness journey. I am on Day 22 of the shred and I also use MyFitnessPal! I love it (a bit addicted) and so far I have lost 27 lbs in 2 months. What I like about MyFitnessPal is not only is there a whole community of support, but it encourages changing your lifestyle... not "dieting". Good luck in your journey... you can do it!!

You are awesome to share this! I just wrote about my weight loss journey I am starting on my blog as well. I did weight watchers a couple of times, but am doing Nutrisystem this time around since I want to lose about 90 lbs.

I am up and down and back and forth with my fitness journey. I gained 80 lbs with first baby and only 15 with second. I told the doctor to smack me if I got out of control with #2 - I was out of control (pancakes and ice cream) with #1. I got down to within 15 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight and then we moved (away from "home) and I ate chocolate chip cookies and drank wine.

I am still fighting my issues with food...but I won once and I will be strong again. I eat really healthy...but fall prey to mochas and snacks.

The 30 day shred is AMAZING! Best workout ever.

Good luck to you - you can and will do it!
